Technical

Technical Requirements

juniorPartner operates exactly the same on computers using the following Operating Systems:

  • MS Windows: 95, 98 ME, NT 4.0, Windows 2000, XP.
  • Macintosh 68k, all O/S PowerMac all O/S up to latest 9.x.
  • Several sites have a mixed platform Macintosh & Windows network.
  • If you install a network that supports a mixed Operating System environment then juniorPartner can be run on all Operating Systems simultaneously. (Note Version 10 of the Mac O/S cannot be easily networked with a Windows network).
  • juniorPartner looks, feels and operates identically on each computer accessing the same datafile.

Storage Requirements

The installation of juniorPartner with the e-manual takes approximately 30 MB of hard disk space on each computer.

Each firm has one datafile. It may be located on a server or “master pc”. The datafile is initially 12 Mb and will grow depending upon volume of transactions.

BackUp

It is important that users make their own arrangements for back-up. We cannot over emphasise how important this is.

RAM

juniorPartner usually occupies less than 10-12 Mb Ram on each computer.

Because juniorPartner can operate in a multi-user, multi-operating system networking environment it is important to ensure that each computer has uninterrupted access to the juniorPartner datafile. Therefore there are certain steps that must be taken to alter default operating system settings at the time of installation. These and other ways to ensure against data loss are described in the Getting Started Manual despatched with the order.

Opportunistic Locking

In Windows NT, 2000, XP must be disabled to prevent data loss.

Write-Behind Caching

In Windows operating systems write behind caching should be installed.

Power Saving

All power saving features must be disabled to prevent data loss.
